Bobcat Women Advance to Big Sky Tennis Semifinals

The Bobcats, who have won nine of their last ten outings, captured the opening doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2.
MSU received a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles as Remy Clark downed Elsje Beneke. The Bobcats took a 3-0 advantage after No. 2 singles standout Nicole Luetolf recorded a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Inalise Pienaar. Freshman Laura Villegas secured the match for MSU with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Grayce Farias. At No. 4 singles.
"The heat was an issue for us today because we are not used to it,” said MSU women’s coach Denise Albrecht. “We haven't been playing outside in this heat and the girls just fought very hard. They ran down every ball and they fought really hard for every single point. I think that's what made the difference for us."
The Bobcats have appeared in the Big Sky tournament every year since 1988. Montana State has never won the tournament title but was the runner- up four times (1998, 1997, 1989, 1988). The Bobcats face No. 2-seeded Northern Arizona in the semifinals on Saturday.
