Bobcat Netters at Big Sky Tennis Championships

The Bobcat women’s team earned the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Weber State in the opening round, Friday at 3 p.m. (MST). The other first-round match faces No. 4 Eastern Washington against No. 5 Montana. Sacramento State and Northern Arizona earned first-round byes.
The Montana State women have won eight of their last nine matches, including a pair of victories over Montana and Idaho State last weekend.
“We have good momentum heading into the weekend,” said MSU women’s coach Denise Albrecht. “I’m especially happy with our doubles play. That will be an important point to take in the championships.

The Bobcats will be led by its 1-2 punch of Jakub Dybala and Kyle McDonald. The duo is also MSU’s top doubles team.
“We’ve had a lot of close matches in the last few weeks and we have learned from those experiences,” said MSU men’s coach Mike Phillips. “We’ve improved each week, and now we need our younger kids to step up to the challenge.”
Semifinals matches will be played on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
