Golf Wins Inaugural A.L.L. Challenge

The contest, called the A.L.L. Challenge (academics, life skills and leadership) gave teams points based on the size of their roster for academic achievements and community service. The winners were announced at the awards banquet Tuesday night at the Worthington Arena.
Women’s golf won the inaugural contest edging out men’s basketball and the spirit squad. The golf team also won the community service portion of the contest. Women’s basketball won the academic end of the contest.
Junior pole vaulter Rebecca Cooper from Corvallis, Oregon won the individual A.L.L. Star Award for the most individual hours of community service. Cooper worked 130 hours during the current school year volunteering for the campus VOICE Center, which offers services and help to women in crisis situations, and other organizations.
Athletic Director Peter Fields commended the student-athletes for donating over 3200 hours of community service during the 2006-07 school year.
