Gillum Chosen for Golf All-Conference
Montana State junior golfer Kelly Gillum was chosen by Big Sky Conference coaches to second team all-conference honors Sunday, the conference announced. This is Gillum’s second career all-conference honor, having also been chosen to the second team in 2006. Gillum hails from Fort Collins, Colorado.
Women’s Tennis
Coming Events:

Apr. 21: vs. Idaho State at the Bobcat Anderson Tennis Center, 10:00 a.m.
Bobcat women’s tennis makes its final homestand this week before the conference tourney hosting rival Montana and Idaho State. Friday’s match against Montana begins at 2:00 p.m. Doubles matches will be followed by singles matches.
MSU sits in third place currently in the conference race, Montana is sixth and Idaho State is eighth, being winless in conference matches this season. The ‘Cats are being paced by Nuria Hernandez, a junior at the number one singles position and Nicole Luetolf, a junior at the number two singles position. Both players were undefeated in their last competitions against conference opponents Northern Arizona and Weber State.

Men’s tennis also makes its final homestand this weekend before the conference tourney. The action begins Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. when the ‘Cats host rival Montana. Doubles competition will be followed by singles matches. MSU’s men currently sit in fifth place, Montana is third and Idaho State is eighth. The ‘Cats are led by undefeated number one singles player Jakub Dybala, a sophomore from Lodz, Poland. Dybala is expected to be in the running for Big Sky Conference MVP. Dybala and junior Kyle McDonald of Casper, Wyoming, along with Justin Hauck are the returners from last year’s Big Sky Conference championship team.

After dropping the opening doubles point, the Montana State men’s tennis team reeled off three straight singles matches and then held on to defeat Weber State 4-3, Saturday at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
Northern Arizona’s Bradley Bristow recorded a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 win over Montana State’s David Kovas at No. 5 singles to guide the Lumberjacks to a 4-3 victory, Sunday afternoon at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center. Montana State held a 2-0 advantage after winning the opening doubles point and receiving at straight set victory by Kyle McDonald at No. 2 singles. NAU’s Jeff Morys then captured No. 4 singles to pull the Lumberjacks within a point. However, MSU’s No. 1 singles player Jakub Dybala answered with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Gareth Ducray to give the Bobcats a 3-1 advantage. Northern Arizona staged a late match rally, winning in straight sets at No. 3 singles, before earning victories at Nos. 5 and 6- both in three sets.

Montana State golfers began the first of three days of golf Monday at the Big Sky Conference tourney in Goodyear, Arizona. Daily and final results will be available at www.msubobcats.com. Junior Kelly Gillum leads the ‘Cat contingent. Gillum, a junior from Fort Collins, Colorado, placed fifth at last year’s conference tourney shooting the lowest score (225) a Bobcat has fired in that event. Sophomores Tessa Stevenson (Kalispell) and LaRae Smith (Sierra Vista, Ariz.), and juniors Kate Steffanich (Billings) and Stephanie Simmons (Boise, Idaho) round out the tourney team. Simmons tied for 16th in last year’s event while Smith tied for 34th.
Football
The Bobcats held their first spring scrimmage at Bobcat field Saturday. Offensive stats are below:

RECEIVING: DeAndre Green 2-38-1, Derek Green 1-28-1, Ty McDonald 2-17, Aaron Mason 2-6, Mark Desin 2-11, Jamelle Banks 2-2, Josh Lewis 1-5, Tyler Bolton 1-11, Brandon Grimsley 1-13, Isaiah Taito 1-10, Joe Schreibeis 1-11.

Apr. 20- Oregon Invite and Idaho State Invite
The MSU track and field squad will split off in two different directions this coming weekend. Head coach Dale Kennedy will take a contingent of 33 athletes to the Oregon State Invite while 10 athletes will travel to the Idaho State meet with jumps coach Tom Eitel. MSU decathlete Mike Green will get his first crack of the spring season at a multi performance at Idaho State. There is no multi event at the Oregon Invite.
Last Week:
MSU throwers had a field day in Bozeman on Saturday. Nathan Palmer and Ashley Jones secured NCAA Regional qualifying marks, leading the way for Montana State at the MSU Invitational in Bozeman on Saturday. Jones was one of nine Bobcats to finish first at the meet, which Dale Kennedy called a "solid performance. Bobcat Charlie Hirning cleared a season's best 6-9 to win the high jump competition on fewest misses. Scott Peterson (54.41 in the 400 hurdles), Tanner Rauk (54-9.5 in the shot put), Dustin Degen (207-10 in the javelin), Chris Baldus (1:59.41 in the 800) and Graydon Curry (15:41.76 in the 5000) were other winners for the Bobcat men. Kylee Zent (47-5) led a 1-2-3 MSU finish in the women's shot put, while Autumn Domitrovich (57.68 in 400), and Ellie Rudy (12-9.5) won events for the MSU women.
