Defense Stellar in First Bobcat Scrimmage

Reyshawn Bobo liked what he saw, Jack Rolovich didn't, and Montana State's eighth-year head football coach Mike Kramer saw exactly what he expected.
"In 33 years of spring ball, this is how it looks," Kramer said of Montana State's first spring scrimmage on Saturday. "The defense is ahead of the offense, and they played well. And here's the way it will be next week, the offense will move up and down the field and there will be nothing the defense can do about it. That's just how it is."
The Bobcat offense converted a pair of long passes into touchdowns, but otherwise struggled to move the football. MSU's defense, led by ferocious play in the front seven, limited the offense to eight first downs in 61 offensive plays. Two of them came in the form of touchdowns, a 28-yard Jack Rolovich pass that Derek Green came down with for a touchdown, and a 33-yarder from Jordan Rasmussen to DeAndre Green.
Kramer lauded his team's defensive front. "(Aaron Papich) is a veteran guy that hasn't made a lot of plays yet, so that's something he has to work on. He made some plays today. Reyshawn Bob showed why, even though he was a backup, he played more reps than (the starter) last year. He's every bit as good in terms of the numbers you need to achieve. I liked our defensive front play."
RUSHING: Isaiah Taito 7-23, Aaron Mason 5-26, Kevin Ah-Hi 3-5, Evin Groves 2-6, Brandon Grimsley 1-2, Jonathan Lane 1-0, Tyler Bolton 1-6, Josh Lewis 1-0.
PASSING: Jack Rolovich 14-7-0, 65, 1 TD; Jordan Rasmussen 14-9-0, 48, 1.
RECEIVING: DeAndre Green 2-38-1, Derek Green 1-28-1, Ty McDonald 2-17, Aaron Mason 2-6, Mark Desin 2-11, Jamelle Banks 2-2, Josh Lewis 1-5, Tyler Bolton 1-11, Brandon Grimsley 1-13, Isaiah Taito 1-10, Joe Schreibeis 1-11.
