Bobcat Women Head to Big Sky Tourney

NEXT UP: The Montana State women’s basketball team will make its 14th appearance in the Big Sky Conference Tournament, this week. MSU enters as the No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 Northern Arizona, Thursday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Montana’s Dahlberg Arena. The other first-round game pits No. 3 Weber State against No. 6 Portland State. Semifinals games, including No. 1 Montana and No. 2 Idaho State will take place on Friday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The championship game of the Chinook Wireless Big Sky Tournament will be held Saturday at 7 p.m., and will be aired live of Altitude TV.
ON THE AIR: All Montana State women’s basketball games will be carried live on My 103.5 FM. Veteran broadcaster Mark Martello will handle play-by-play duties for his second straight season. Martello will begin his broadcast with the Bobcat Pregame Show, originating 15-minutes prior to tip-off. MSU’s games are also- for a fee- webcast at www.bigksytv.org.
FAST BREAKS: Montana State snapped a two-year drought and will make an appearance in the Chinook Wireless Big Sky Conference Tournament, this Thursday in Missoula…MSU secured the No. 5 seed with a 66-63 victory over Weber State on Saturday…the win over WSU broke a nine-game losing streak to the Wildcats…The Bobcats will be making their 14th appearance in the league tournament…MSU’s only Big Sky Championship came in 1993…The Bobcats have played in six Big Sky Tournament Championship games…The last time Montana State was in the conference tournament, they defeated Northern Arizona 72-54, before falling to Idaho State 63-56 in Missoula…On Saturday, the Bobcats had four players in double-digits, including Mercer 25, Krislyn Wallace 15, Whitney Connolly 10, and Nubia Garcia 10…Rebecca Mercer saw her streak of 22 consecutive free throw makes end, after missing the first of two technical foul shots on Saturday…Mercer has averaged 20.3 points per game in MSU’s last three outings…in MSU’s last five games, forward Krislyn Wallace is shooting 53 percent from the field.
