Montana State’s Mercer Named Big Sky Newcomer of the Year

In addition, Mercer received second-team All-Big Sky honors, as well.
Mercer, a native of Perth, Australia, transferred to Montana State from Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, North Dakota.
Mercer is currently leading the Bobcats in scoring at 12.6 points per game. She also leads the team in assists, three-pointers and free throw percentage. Mercer recorded a career-high 25 points in MSU’s win over Weber State to conclude the regular-season Big Sky schedule on Saturday.
“It’s a great honor for Rebecca and the entire team,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “We still have work to do to get more respect in the league. We had a lot of kids that played an important role in our success this season.”
MSU will face Northern Arizona in the opening round of the Big Sky Tournament on Thursday in Missoula.
