Dear Diary: The Final Goodbye

Well Bobcat fans, it looks like we have come to the end of another season. Although we ended on a bit of a down note, I can’t help but feel that this season was incredibly successful. To take a team that was 3-23 the year before and end up 13-16 this season is something we are all very proud of. No one thought we could do. The other coaches and the media both picked us to finish last, but our hard work and faith in each other prevailed.
These past weeks have been some of the most fun of the entire season. The way we were able to focus in practice and really improve, but still laugh, joke, and have a good time was truly amazing to me. Our last home game against Weber State was one of the best games we played all year. We were finally able to put away a close game and send off our seniors with a win!
I would have thought that after spending what felt like every waking minute together for the past four months, the team might be a little tired of seeing each other by now. But the truth is that we are closer than ever, we even spend our free time together. I don’t know what I would do without my teammates; they really are my family in Bozeman.
My first season playing college basketball was nothing like how I imagined it would be, it was so much better. Even though it was by far the hardest thing I have ever done, I loved every minute of it.
The great support we got this season from the University and from our wonderful fans was something I had never experienced before. I loved the atmosphere and the life that came along with being a student athlete. Not only did I get to live in a wonderful town, but I got the chance to be a part of something bigger than myself. I feel so blessed that I got the opportunity to be a part of the Bobcat family.
I had some of the best times of my life this season. Our first game, our first road trip and countless nights just hanging out are memories I will never forget.
I think we all would have loved to get a few more wins this season, but the truth is that years down the road we won’t really remember the wins and loses, but we will remember each other and all the wonderful times we had together.
Thanks for a wonderful season and all your support. Until next season, GO ‘CATS!
