“Our guys fought hard and we came out on the good end,” said MSU head coach Mike Phillips. “It was important to get the doubles point, because it set the tone for the rest of the match.”
MSU received win at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles with identical 8-6 victories.
In singles play, the top four spots all went three sets. Anton Leonenko and Igor Vuckovic each had to battle back from 1-0 deficits to take their respective matches.
Sophomore Jakub Dybala claimed the No. 1 spot for the Bobcats with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over USU’s Hannes Schenk.
Montana State will host Gonzaga on Sunday at 9 a.m. in the BATC.
