Bobcat Women Clip Eagles; Men Fall to BYU

The victory over the Eagles improved MSU’s league slate to 1-1.
On Friday, the women’s squad posted a 4-2 victory over Gonzaga.
Leading the Bobcats was junior Nuria Hernandez, who posted two victories at No. 1 singles, including a 6-3, 6-3 decision over EWU’s Kasey Know. Hernandez also combined with Nicole Luetolf at No. 2 doubles, where the tandem recorded a hard-fought 9-7 win over Eastern Washington.
“We had a super weekend,” said MSU head coach Denise Albrecht. “We’ve played a tough schedule, and our kids really came out, competed hard and their hard-work paid off.”
The MSU men’s team dropped two matches to nationally ranked Utah and BYU.
The highlight of the weekend came against Utah, as MSU’s No. 1 doubles combination of Jakub Dybala and Kyle McDonald knocked off No. 43 Zach Ganger and Miron Mann 9-8. In addition, McDonald defeated Mann at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-7, 11-9.
