Zent currently has a provisional mark, but is 23rd on the list of qualifiers.
“I expect they will take about a dozen or so more throwers,” head coach Dale Kennedy said. “Kylee has a good chance to make it, but she’ll have to have a stellar performance.”
Johnson is about one-half second off a provisional mark.
“I am pumped to go,” Johnson said. “On a 300-meter track, which is a lot faster, I have a great shot at it. I’m confident I can get it done.”
Both Johnson and Zent won their respective events at the Big Sky Conference Indoor Championship last weekend in Bozeman. Zent won the women’s shot with a throw of 50’10.25”, her first throw of the season over 50 feet. Johnson won the 400 with a time of 48.44, but ran a sub-48 second time in the trials. He became the first MSU sprinter to win an indoor sprint event at the conference championships.
