Idaho Edges Past Bobcat Women’s Tennis Squad

The Vandals captured the opening point, sweeping all three doubles matches.
In singles action, Montana State won at Nos. 4, 5 and 6, but dropped hard-fought decisions at Nos. 1 and 3- in three sets.
“It was a super effort by our kids,” said MSU women’s coach Denise Albrecht. “The courts in the Kibbie Dome are very fast and we did a nice job adjusting to the conditions. I was also happy that both freshmen earned victories.”
Freshmen Ali Griffin and Laura Villegas notched wins at No. 4 and 5 singles. Griffin won in three sets over Lauren Drew at the fourth spot, while Villegas posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Lauren Shrubb at No.5.
Sophomore McKenzie Hilmer also recorded a victory with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles over Carolyn Berry.
MSU will play at Washington State on Saturday.
