The Bobcats had a team GPA of 3.49, which ranked only behind Wright State (3.70), Weber State (3.54) and Iowa State (3.50).
The Montana State women’s team also garnered United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association Academic Team kudos.
“It’s a tremendous honor to have both of our cross country teams ranked among the best for academics,” said MSU head coach Dale Kennedy. “Our kids know what it takes to be successful, both athletically and academically.”
The 2006 MSU men’s squad consisted of Matt Adams, Nick Atwood, Matt Beamer, Graydon Curry, Michael Kapus, Devin McDowell, Kurt Michels and David Steinbacher.
The Bobcat women’s team included Elisabeth Driscoll, Carrie Gottschalk, Ashley Hadway, Kayla Larson, Leah Thompson, Marilee Woyth and Elena Gibson.
In addition, Atwood and Driscoll, each had perfect 4.0 grade-point averages.
