“A few breaks here or there and the match goes into doubles and we have a shot to win it,” said MSU women’s coach Denise Albrecht. “Unfortunately, we came up a little short.”
Montana State captured matches at Nos. 5 and 6 singles, where freshmen Laura Villegas and Ali Griffin each won in three sets.
“Our young kids really battled and did a super job,” Albrecht said. “We are making steady progress, and that’s an exciting process to watch.”
MSU will play at Texas-El Paso on Saturday.
