Montana State Skiers in Fifth Place at RMISA Championships

The Bobcats were paced on Friday by its strong women’s Nordic contingent.
Freshman Jamie Woelk placed third in the 5-kilometer freestyle with a time of 15:50.9.
Other MSU finishers included Claire Rennie, 7th, 16:06.8; Mandy Bowden, 9th, 16:11.0; Karoline Teien, 29th, 17:41.1; and Rachel Goldstein, 36th, 18:19.2.
DU’s Annelise Bailly won the event in 15:18.1
The MSU women posted the highest team score in the women’s freestyle race.
Nathan Park paced the Bobcat men’s Nordic squad, finishing 14th overall in the 10-kilometer freestyle in 29:30.1.
Also contributing for the Bobcats were Tim Downey, 27th, 30:22.8; Chris Coe, 31st, 30:37.4; Daichi Ito, 35th, 31:56.2; and Sam Viavant, 42nd, 33:32.6.
In alpine action, MSU freshman Toby LaMar placed tenth in the slalom with a two-run time of 1:23.63.
He was followed by Cory Harris, 18th, 1:26.27; Dan Brockett, 19th, 1:26.60; Robbie Massie, 21st, 1:27.52; and Tyler Smedsrud, 27th, 1:31.66.
In the women’s slalom, the Bobcats were paced by freshman Carmel McElroy, who placed 16th in 1:43.62.
Also contributing for MSU were Gretchen Glaser, 21st, 1:48.22; Amy Lattimer, 29th, 2:10.07; Spela Bertoncelj, 32nd, 2:29.11; and Chichi Williams, 38th, 3:12.54.
The championship will conclude on Saturday with the Nordic classic race and the alpine giant slalom.
