MSU Netters Drop Pair in California

Perennial Big Sky power Sacramento State handed MSU a 7-0 setback on Saturday.
The Hornets swept the doubles point and took all six singles matches in straight sets.
“Sacramento State is the Big Sky favorite, but I thought our kids competed well,” said MSU head coach Denise Albrecht. “This was a good experience for use as we move forward with the league schedule.”
The Bobcats dropped a 5-2 decision to Cal Davis on Friday.
MSU was paced by freshman Laura Villegas and sophomore McKenzie Hilmer, who won at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. Also posting a win was the No. 1 doubles tandem of Katy Proietti and Allison Fey.
“We had a tough match against Davis and the kids fought hard,” Albrecht said. “It was nice to see our younger kids come through with big victories.”
