Bobcats Balanced Attack Stings Hornets

“Everything seemed to go our way,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “We generated a lot of positive energy and everyone seemed to feed off it. It was a fun game to play.”
Also hitting double-figures for Montana State (11-13, 6-6) were Jamie Thornton 11, Amanda DeHaan 10, and Rebecca Mercer 10.
“I was happy with the play of Amanda, Jamie and Callie Goff,” Binford said. “They were ready to go when their time came, and they made the most of the opportunity.”
Thornton, a freshman from Pullman, Wash., connected on 5-of-8 from the field and pulled down four rebounds. DeHaan went 4-of-6 from the floor and tied Connolly for rebounding honors.
MSU had its best shooting night since late November hitting 53 percent from the field. The Bobcats also connected on 14-of-17 free throws.
Montana State outscored the Hornets 44-22 in the paint, and held a 40-33 advantage in rebounding.
All 12 Bobcat players logged between 12-20 minutes.
Sacramento State (3-22, 1-10) took its only lead of the game at 8-6 on a Stephanie Cherry 3-pointer with 15:17 left in the opening period.
The Bobcats countered with a 14-5 run and entered intermission with a 37-22 cushion.
The Hornets cut the margin to 37-28 early in the second stanza, before the Bobcats answered with an 11-2 run to secure the victory.
Sacramento State was led in the loss by Cherry with a game-high 20 points.
Montana State will host Idaho State, Friday night in Worthington Arena.
