Daly Nabs All-America Honor

Bobby Daly's off-season got off to a fast start Friday, when the Walter Camp All-America Team named Montana State's junior linebacker to its First Team.
Daly, a two-year starter from Helena, led the Big Sky and was fifth in Division I's Football Championship Subdivision in tackles this year. He was also fourth in the Big Sky and 34th nationally in tackles-for-loss this season. Daly finished the year with 136 tackles, 15.5 for a loss, and 5.0 sacks. He also had four pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
"This is a tremendous honor for Bobby," Bobcat coach Rob Ash said. "He had a terrific season, and to earn First Team All-America honors as a junior makes it that much more pronounced."
Daly stands as one of the five underclassmen honored by the Walter Camp committee, which selects only one team of 11 offensive and 11 defensive players, plus specialists. He is the fourth Bobcat to earn First Team All-America honors in the past five years, but becomes only the third Montana State linebacker to earn first or second team honors, joining Roger Cooper (2004) and Jack Muhlbeier (1980).
Daly is one of four Big Sky Conference players so honored, joining center Brennan Carvalho of Portland State and Kroy Biermann (defensive end) and Dan Carpenter (kicker) from Montana.
