Bobcats Win Grantree Tourney; Carlos Taylor is MVP
Montana State beat Alcorn State Friday night in round one and overcame a smothering defense on Saturday against Pepperdine to walk away with the first place trophy at the Bobcat /Grantree Classic in Worthington Arena. Carlos Taylor led all players with 30 points on Saturday night, helping MSU erase a 14-point second half deficit and grab a 95-89 win in the championship game. Taylor's 30 points were a career high for the senior guard, and was the second-highest single game scoring total in tournament history. He scored 23 points after intermission. Also chosen to the all-tournament team was senior forward Mecklen Davis.

The ‘Cats hit the road for Reno, Nevada for their lone game this week. Nevada (2-4) is led in scoring by senior guard Marcellus Kemp (18ppg). Kemp earned first team All-WAC honors last year as a junior. The Wolfpack have two other players averaging in double digits this season.

Montana State returns home to host Utah Valley State on Wednesday night. The ‘Cats hope to halt a four-game losing streak that stretches back to their Nov. 17 loss at Texas-Arlington, their first loss of the season. UVS is a perfect 9-0 on the season so far, coming off a championship at the Air Force Classic where they drained 14 three-pointers on the way to a 78-68 win over host Air Force. The ‘Cats will have to contend with tournament MVP Sandy Marvin, a junior guard, who scored 24 points in the contest.

Indoor Track and Field
Track and Field will kick off their indoor season with the annual Blue and Gold intrasquad meet Dec. 4 and 8. The javelins will throw on Tuesday, Dec. 4 in the fieldhouse and the rest of the meet will take place Dec. 8 in the fieldhouse from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
