Bobcats Roll Past Alcorn State

Adrian Zamora made his first start of the season memorable, scoring a game-high 16 points with six rebounds, four assists and a block to lead Montana State on an 83-57 romp past Alcorn State in a the first round of the GranTree Inn Classic in Bozeman on Friday. The Bobcats face Pepperdine, an 86-84 winner over Texas-Pan American in Friday's other first round contest.
A layup by Alex Owumi gave the Braves a 4-3 lead with 17:38 to play in the first half, the only lead Alcorn held all night. Divaldo Mbunga answered with a layup, Casey Durham hit a three-pointer, and MSU led by double-digits for the game's final 33 minutes. "The emphasis at halftime was, let's put the pedal to the metal and hammer it home," said MSU coach Brad Huse. "And, we did. We just didn't finish in the last five minutes."
Huse said he was pleased with his team's execution. "For the majority of the night we really did a nice job sharing the basketball," he said. "We did a good job getting it to operational areas and staying disciplined. It's also a credit to our defense."
The Bobcats shot 50% on the night, and forced 23 Alcorn State turnovers. MSU extended its string of out-rebounding each of its opponents this year, although that streak was in jeopardy for much of the night.
