Bobcats Fall to Unbeaten Grizzlies

Montana scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to pull away from Montana State and secure a 41-20 win in Bozeman on Saturday. The Grizzlies' win gives the team a perfect 11-0 record and a likely spot among the top two seeds when the Division I Playoffs are announced on Sunday.
"Montana is a very good football team," Bobcat coach Rob Ash said. "They are extremely well-coached, and they execute very well."
The Bobcats jumped out to a 14-6 lead in the second quarter when Demetrius Crawford scored on a one-yard run with 2:42 to play in the first half. At that point, Montana made what Ash called the crucial drive of the game. "I should have seen it coming," Ash said of Montana's six-play, 63-yard touchdown drive that answered MSU's score, because I've been watching it on tape all year. It was a great drive, with tremendous execution on their part."
While Ash said the Grizzlies gained momentum from that drive, they captured it for good when the teams came out of the locker rooms. On the first scrimmage play of the second half Colt Anderson intercepted a Jack Rolovich pass, and Montana scored moments later on a 29-yard pass from Cole Bergquist to Eric Allen. Allen caught a 23-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter, then Isaiah Taito drew the Bobcats to within a score with a one-yard run. The Grizzlies iced the win by possessing the ball for all but 38 seconds of the game's last nine minutes.
Montana State finishes the season 6-5, the program's sixth straight winning season. Montana finishes 11-0, wins at least part of the Big Sky title for the 10th straight year, and heads to the Division I Playoffs for the 15th straight year.
