Montana State Women’s Basketball Program Inks High School Standouts

Pauli, a 6-foot-1 guard, is a four-year letterwinner and starter at Sweet Grass High School. As a junior, she averaged 10.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.7 steals, while shooting 42 percent from the field in leading the Herders to the Montana State B tournament.
“What I like about Rachel is her versatility,” Binford said. “She can bring the ball up the court; she has great vision and is an excellent passer. Rachel also possesses a great feel for the game and will really fit in well with our up-tempo style. She has tremendous potential.”
A three-time all-conference performer, Pauli was named to the State B All-Tournament squad, last winter. She also holds the SGHS records for assists in a career and for a season.
As a sophomore, she started all 26 games, and averaged 10.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.6 steals per game. For the season, she shot 43 percent from the field.
In addition to basketball, the three-time all-state academic selection, also lettered in volleyball and track.
Bussey, a 5-foot-9 guard, is a four-year letterwinner and starter for the Alamosa High School Mean Moose. As a junior, she averaged 13.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.6 steals, guiding AHS to a 21-5 overall mark. For her efforts, Bussey was named Colorado 4A honorable mention.
“I really like what Katie can do on both ends of the court,” Binford said. “She is a tough competitor that is quick and will help us in our transition game. Offensively, she has great instincts and can pull up and hit the jumper, or take you off the dribble. She’s possesses great shooting ability.”
Last winter, Bussey was in double-figure scoring in 23 of 26 games, including two games in double-digit steals and assists. She was the third leading scorer in the 4A South Central League.
On the year, she shot 46 percent from the field, 39 percent from three-point range, and 84 percent from the line. As a sophomore, the all-conference honoree averaged 13.3 points and 3.1 steals per game.
An excellent student, Bussey has been part of Minds in Motion for four years, and is a National Honor Society inductee.
