Daly Chosen as Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week
Bobby Daly, a 6-1, 215-pound junior from Helena, Mont., tallied a career-high 17 tackles with two sacks in the 13th-ranked Bobcats’ 7-3 victory over Southern Utah. Daly had 11 solo stops, and his 17 tackles tied the Big Sky single-game high this season. Daly’s first sack came on a third-and-short in MSU territory that forced a Thunderbird punt. He had two third-down tackles that led to Bobcat stops. Daly’s 17 tackles was the most by a Bobcat since Kane Ioane registered 21 in a 2003 game. Daly is averaging a league-best 12 tackles per game.

The “Cat Stat” link to the live stats is on the right tab of the athletic site’s home page at www.msubobcats.com. The link provides play-by-play real time stats of home volleyball and football. The stats will also be displayed on screen with Big Sky TV broadcasts.

Montana State heads to Eastern Washington this week to take on the Eagles who are 3-2 overall and 1-2 in conference. Eastern is coming off a last second heartbreaker against Montana at Missoula. EWU out-gained Montana in the 23-24 loss, and Aaron Boyce had the fourth-most catches in Big Sky Conference history with 17 Saturday against Montana. The ‘Cats are 9-21 against Eastern with the Eagles winning the last three outings.

The ‘Cats take to the road this week for a pair of matches with conference foes Weber State and Idaho State. The Wildcats (3-3 conference) split last weekend beating Northern Colorado 3-2 and losing to Northern Arizona 0-3. The Bengals are 0-6 in conference play this season.

Coming:
Cross Country heads to Terra Haute, Indiana this week for the NCAA pre-nationals. The meet is run on the same course that the NCAA Championships will take place on November 19.

Golf takes their final fall trip this week to Boise, Idaho for the Bronco Invite. The event will be Brittany Basye’s last as head coach of the Bobcat golf program. Leslie Spalding will take over the program Nov. 1. The 54-hole invite is at the Falcon Crest Golf Club in Kuna, Idaho. MSU is one of 13 teams at the event.
