Sacramento State (17-3, 6-0) out-hit Montana State (1-17, 0-6) .382 to -.060, and held a sizeable 50-26 advantage in kills.
“We had a bad night in all facets of our game, and you can’t do that against a team the caliber of Sacramento State,” Malauulu said. “The one positive is that our younger kids all received some playing time, and got a good look at where we need to go.”
The Hornets were led by Lindsay Haupt with a match-high 13 kills and six blocks.
MSU was guided by Laura Viren with eight kills and seven digs.
Montana State will be at Weber State on Friday.
