Montana State hosts its next to last home game this weekend when the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona come to town. NAU sits one half game ahead of MSU in the conference standings at 4-2 and MSU is tied for third with Eastern Washington at 3-2. Montana has sole possession of first place at 5-0.
NAU leads the league in rushing offense with over 229 yards per game. They are seventh in passing offense.

The ‘Cats take to the road this week to face their interstate rival Montana at Missoula on Friday, Nov. 2. Montana State heads into the match still looking for their first conference victory of the season. The ‘Cat attack is led by junior Laura Viren with 2.63 kills per game. Montana is 4-8 in the Big Sky.
The Bobcats will return home Nov. 16-17 for their final two home conference matches of the season. Saturday, Nov. 17 is Senior Night.

MSU men place third at BSC meet
MSU women place fifth at BSC meet
Montana State sophomore Nick Atwood garnered All-Big Sky Conference Cross Country honors, placing seventh overall at the league championship, Saturday morning at the University of Montana Golf Course. Atwood, a native of Otis Orchards, Wash., covered the 8000-meter course in 24:42. His time helped the Montana State men to a third place finish.
Elisabeth Driscoll’s bid for a fourth all-conference performance at the Big Sky championships fell short as she finished 14th overall, covering the 5000-meter course in 18:25. Driscoll helped the Bobcat women to a fifth place finish.
Men’s Basketball

Nov. 1: vs. UC-Colorado Springs, tip-off at 8:00 PM
Nov. 3: vs. Walla Walla, tip-off at 7:00 PM
Montana State men’s basketball kicks off their exhibition season this week at home with two games. On Thursday, the men play the second game in a double header against UC-Colorado Springs, which follows the MSU women taking on MSU-Northern at 5:30 p.m. The UCCS Lions are a D-II school in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Lions lost almost 60% of their scoring offense to graduation and transfers. In addition, two of their top freshman recruits have been sidelined with injuries.
Walla Walla University, a four year Seventh-day Adventist liberal arts university, plays in the Pacific Northwest College Conference in the NCCAA. The Wolves are currently 0-2 having lost to both Cascade College and Eastern Oregon last week.

The Skylites enter the season minus three all-conference seniors from last year’s squad, including All-American DeLayne Johnston, a native of Richey, Montana. Last season, the Skylites fell short of their hopes for the NAIA national tournament with a loss to Westminster College in the Frontier Conference tourney.
MSU enters the season on the heels of the third best turnaround in win-loss season records in the nation. The ‘Cats finished last season with a 13-16 overall record.
