Eastern Washington Defeats Bobcat Spikers

Montana State was paced by true-freshman Rachelle Allen with a career-high 11 kills. The Colorado native also had a .240 attack mark and added eight kills.
Three other freshmen had strong performances, including Demi Dlouhy with a match-high seven blocks; libero Meghan Albiston with 14 digs; and outside hitter Wendy Doutre with six kills and a team-high .500 hitting percentage.
“I’m happy with our effort and energy,” said MSU head coach Miya Malauulu. “In game three, we played our best ball of the season and it was a total team effort. We had a lot of fight, but consistency over the course of an entire match is something we’re still struggling with.”
The Bobcats out-blocked the Eagles 11-8 and held a 71-68 advantage in digs. However, EWU held a 69-47 margin in kills and out-hit MSU .251 to .121.
“Defensively, we had a very good performance,” Malauulu said. “Again, everyone really competed hard and contributed in that area.”
MSU senior Patti Anderson posted a team-high 20 digs, while Nicole Grypiuk was the only other Bobcat to reach double-digits with ten kills.
Montana State will be at Montana on Friday night.
