Eric Fisher is Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week
Eric Fisher, a 6-1, 215-pound sophomore from Billings, was chosen as this week’s special team’s player of the week for the Big Sky Conference. Fischer hit a pair of key second-half field goals, and averaged 39.7 yards per punt in poor weather conditions as Montana State rallied for a 20-9 conference win over Sacramento State. Fisher, who had not attempted a field goal since the season opener, came on in relief of Michael Sweeney, who missed two short field goals. Fisher made a 27-yard field goal with 46 seconds left in the third quarter to close Sacramento State’s lead to 9-3. He added a 32-yarder with 8:08 to play in the fourth quarter to put the Bobcats ahead 13-9. Fisher had a 56-yard punt, and pinned Sacramento State inside the 20-yard line once. HE also had two touchbacks on five kickoffs. This is Fisher’s second Player of the Week honor this season.
Men’s and Women’s Basketball News
Montana State men’s and women’s basketball teams will host a doubleheader scrimmage this Thursday, Oct. 25, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Shroyer Gym. The women will play at 5:30 followed by the men. The event is free to the public.

Montana State travels to Northern Colorado this weekend to take on the Bears. UNC is yet to win their first football game of the season; they are 0-8 and 0-4 in conference. The Bears are coming off a 52-7 thumping at Montana. Senior wide receiver Clint Wright scored the lone touchdown for UNC in that contest.
The Bears are led on defense by junior linebacker Cristian Sarmento who had a career-high 17 tackles in the Montana game. Sarmento is third in the league in tackles behind MSU’s Bobby Daly who leads the conference with an average 12 per game.

The ‘Cats hit the road for their northwest swing this weekend taking on Portland State and Eastern Washington. Portland State split last weekend on the road with a loss to Weber and a win at Idaho State. The Eagles snapped a four-match losing streak with two road wins last weekend over Idaho State and Weber State, putting the Eagles in third place in the conference.
The Bobcats are on the road for the next two weekends and return home Nov. 16 and 17 for their final week of regular conference play. Senior Night in Nov. 17.

The men’s race has two significant hills and the women’s race has one. The hills come at 1.5 miles and 3.25 miles in the Men’s Race. The hill comes at 1.5 miles in the Women’s Race.
