Lumberjacks Fell Montana State Spikers

Northern Arizona (10-10, 5-5) out-hit the Bobcats .345 to .009 and held a 53-28 advantage in kills.
Montana State (1-21, 0-10) held an 11-10 margin in the opening stanza, before NAU rattled off seven straight points for a 17-11 lead. MSU countered with a 6-0 run to cut the margin to 21-20 following a Kaytlin Van Burger kill.
The Lumberjacks pulled away from a 27-26 lead with three straight points, winning the opening game following a Patti Anderson hitting error.
Game two belonged to NAU as the Lumberjacks out-hit the Bobcats .378 to -.154.
Northern Arizona jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead in the final set and cruised to the victory on a Babcock kill.
“We were looking for a better effort from Friday night, but we didn’t get it,” said MSU head coach Miya Malauulu. “Looking at the positives, we had five freshmen on the floor at times, and Rachelle Allen did a nice job playing all the way around.”
The Bobcats were led by Van Burger with seven kills, while libero Meghan Albiston posted a team-high 11 digs.
MSU will play at Portland State on Thursday.
