A look at Montana State’s key conference clash with Eastern Washington from Woodward Stadium on a beautiful afternoon for football…
• Just a half-hour before kickoff, DE Dane Fletcher’s status for today’s game remains uncertain. The sophomore from Bozeman participated in pre-game workouts, but remains a game-time decision with a lingering shoulder injury.
• Eastern Washington’s offense won’t look unfamiliar to Montana State’s coaching staff this afternoon. Eagles offensive coordinator Todd Sturdy coached the last 12 seasons at St. Ambrose University, which played Drake six times during Rob Ash’s time at the Des Moines, Iowa, school. Drake was 5-1 against Division II St. Ambrose, but Ash continues to hold Sturdy in the highest regard. Sturdy took over the Eagles offense this summer when Beau Baldwin became head coach at Central Washington.
• If the beautiful weather holds, Saturday’s game will be the first in a month Montana State has not played in rain or snow.
• Eagles wide receivers coach Joe Wade coached at MSU in 1999.
• Former Bobcat All-America tight end Blake Wolf leads a strong contingent of former MSU players in attendance.
