McDonald Wins Two at All-American Tournament

McDonald, a senior from Casper, Wyo., opened play with a first-round bye. In the second round, he posted a 6-7, 7-5, 6-4 victory over Albert Ballesta of Wichita State. McDonald followed the win with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 decision over Texas A&M’s Matt Bain.
“Without a doubt, Kyle is playing the best tennis of his career,” said MSU head coach Mike Phillips.
In the fourth round, Ted Angelinos ended McDonald’s run with 6-2, 6-4 victory. Angelinos is a top six player from Virginia. The Cavaliers were ranked No. 2 in the country, last season.
Montana State junior Jakub Dybala will also be competing in the All-American, playing in the qualifying draw.
“I’m confident Kyle and Jakub will come back better players more prepared for the spring season,” Phillips said. “(They’re) playing with the best players and best teams in the country.”
McDonald and Dybala will also combine to play in the doubles qualifying tournament, as well.
