'Changed' Bobcats Face 'Northern' Exposure

It's amazing what a little home cooking can do for a team.
Montana State lost three of its first four Big Sky contests this year, and even though all four came on the road, 1-3 is still 1-3. But the Bobcats drastically changed the way their season feels last weekend with a pair of hard-fought, well-earned home wins.
"There's certainly more interest in the direction we're headed," said first-year head coach Brad Huse, whose team toppled league-leading Idaho State and second place Weber State in its first two league home tilts. "We'll have people's attention."
First things were first for Huse after last weekend's perception-altering wins. "The nice thing is we took care of what we had to at home," Huse said, "and we didn’t know how we’d respond because we hadn’t been home in so long."
Senior forward Carson Durr, a steadying influence on the youthful Bobcat team all season, said last weekend's results help maintain positive vibes throughout the program. "It's a lot nicer to get wins," he said. "Everything goes better when you win. This is the kind of team that if we wouldn't have won we would have panicked, but it would have felt different. Everything's more positive after a win."
Huse's priority, against hungry UNC and the explosive Lumberjack team picked to win the Big Sky, remains what it has throughout the season. "Our guys need to take confidence from those two games, but that doesn’t cover up the mistakes we made in both games. We have to continue to improve."
