Bobcats Move to 11th, Earn Individual Awards

Montana State began reaping the spoils of its 19-10 upset of Division I-A Colorado on Monday, moving to 11th in this week's Sports Network Division I-AA poll. A pair of Bobcats also earned league and national player of the week honors.
Junior quarterback Cory Carpenter shared The Sports Network's Offensive Player of the Week award with Southern quarterback J.C. Lewis, while senior kicker Jeff Hastings was named Special Teams Player of the Week. Both players earned Big Sky Player of the Week honors, as well.
Carpenter completed 23 of his 31 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown. He completed his last six passes in leading MSU to 13 unanswered second-half points in his first start since his senior season in high school. Hastings hit all four of his field goal attempts, scoring 13 of MSU's 19 points. He has hit all 14 of his field goals inside 20 yards during his Bobcat career.
