Bobcat Harriers Compete at UM Invite

The men’s 8-kilometer event will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the women’s 6-kilometer race at 10:45 a.m. Competing along side the Bobcats and Grizzlies will be Washington State, Idaho State and Eastern Washington. MSU will score duals against ISU, ESU and WSU.
“We’re excited to see what kind of progress we’ve made since our own invitational two weeks ago,” said MSU head coach Dale Kennedy, who is entering his 25th season with the Bobcats. “We’ve had some kids with a lot of intensity in their work-outs over the past week, and we want to see how that is going to payoff.”
The MSU men’s squad will once again look to its trio of freshmen (Matt Adams, Matt Beamer and Nick Atwood). Senior and All-Big Sky Conference performer Kurt Michels is still recovering from an illness, but will race on Saturday.
The Bobcat women’s team will look to its top three frontrunners; Ashley Hadway, Elisabeth Driscoll and Carrie Gottschalk. Kennedy will also keep an eye on Kayla Larson, Leah Thompson and Marliee Woyth.
“Ashley and Elisabeth both had outstanding work-outs this week and I think we’ll see them step-up from their performances at the MSU Invitational,” Kennedy said. “As far as dual meet scoring, we’ll need our Nos. 4-6 runners to have a solid afternoon.”
The meet is slated to start near the UM Golf Course and the Grizzly soccer complex.
