Bobcat Spikers Take No. 25 Kansas State to Four Games

The first game of the match belonged to Montana State (2-3) as the Bobcats out-hit the Wildcats .324 to .273 and racked-up 15 kills.
“We controlled the entire game,” said MSU head coach Miya Malauulu. “We were passing extremely well and were doing a great job with our ball-handling. We blocked well and were composed against one of the top 25 teams in the nation.”
KSU rallied in the second stanza, despite 13 ties between the two schools. Games three and four belonged to the Wildcats as Kansas State (5-1) out-hit Montana State .453 to -.130.
“Our ball-handling broke down and Kansas State served us off the court in the final two games,” Malauulu said. “All-in-all, we’ll focus on the fact that if we can take care of the ball, and run our system, we’re a very good team.”
MSU was led by sophomore Laura Viren with ten kills, eight digs and three blocks, while middle blocker Angela Wiebe chipped in seven kills, a .250 attack mark and three blocks. Raelene Purnell guided the Bobcats at the net with six blocks, while Kandice Kelly added a team-high 12 digs.
Kansas State was led by Sandy Werner with 22 kills and six digs.
Montana State will face Wichita State on Saturday night.
