9/22: Sonny Holland Golf Tournament
9/23: vs. Eastern Washington at Bobcat Stadium: Kickoff at 1:05 p.m.
This weekend, MSU faces off against Eastern Washington for their conference opener. EWU is currently 0-3, having lost to D-I powers Oregon State and West Virginia, and then experiencing an upset loss to Division II Central Washington at home on Saturday.
Last Week:
Montana State 0, UC-Davis 45
Montana State suffered its worst home loss in seven years and its first home shutout since 1985 on Saturday, losing a 45-0 decision to UC Davis.
Trailing just 7-0 with 2:11 to play in the first half, the Bobcat defense limited UC Davis to a field goal after a turnover deep in Aggie territory. On the next possession, however, Cory Carpenter threw an interception, and the Aggies scored with 26 seconds left in the half to begin an avalanche that didn’t end until early in the fourth quarter.

9/23: at home against Idaho State, 7:00 p.m., Shroyer Gym
MSU will host Weber State on Thursday night. Weber lost their first two conference matches last weekend to Portland State and Sacramento State at home. Idaho State split their opening weekend losing to Northern Colorado and beating Eastern Washington.
Last Week:
9/15: lost to Montana, 1-3 at Missoula
Montana State loss their conference opener to rival University of Montana at Missoula on Thursday, 1-3. Montana State (4-6, 0-1) was paced by Kim Stonehouse with 15 kills and 14 digs, while Patti Anderson added a career-high 13 kills to go along with 11 digs.
“We got off to a very slow start and never recovered,” said MSU head coach Miya Malauulu. “We steadied out in the third game and got off a nice run, but we never really established our block and we had too many unforced errors.”
Montana (3-6, 1-0) hit .215 for the match, while limiting the Bobcats to .101. The Grizzlies also out-blocked MSU 13-7 and held a 76-64 advantage in digs.

9/25-26: Eastern Washington Invite
The MSU golf team had a bye this last week and is preparing to head to Spokane, Washington for the Inland Empire Invite. Coming off a good showing at the Colorado Invite, coach Brittany Bayse has high expectations for her squad. The event takes place Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 25-26 at Hangman Valley Country Club in Spokane.
The women’s golf team received a $5,000 gift this last week from the Montana Golf Association.
“We’re grateful for the long standing relationship we have with the MGA and are thankful they continue to support golf at Montana State,” head coach Brittany Bayse said.

Last Week:
Three freshmen finished 1-2-3 for the Montana State men’s cross country team to lead the Bobcats to a 22-33 win over Montana in the annual dual between the intra-state rivals at the 27th Annual MSU Invitational, Saturday morning. MSU finished third in overall scoring behind Utah State and Weber State. Matthew Atkinson-Adams, a redshirt freshman, paced the Bobcats finishing eighth overall, covering the 5-mile course in 25:25. He was followed closely by Nick Atwood, tenth, 25:41, and Matt Beamer, 11th, 25:44.
