Montana State (4-6, 0-1) was paced by Kim Stonehouse with 15 kills and 14 digs, while Patti Anderson added a career-high 13 kills to go along with 11 digs.
“We got off to a very slow start and never recovered,” said MSU head coach Miya Malauulu. “We steadied out in the third game and got off a nice run, but we never really established our block and we had too many unforced errors.”
Montana (3-6, 1-0) hit .215 for the match, while limiting the Bobcats to .101. The Grizzlies also out-blocked MSU 13-7 and held a 76-64 advantage in digs.
MSU will host Weber State on Thursday night in Shroyer Gym.
