Bobcat Men Face Challenging Hoops Slate

Montana State hosts a Pac 10 opponent in Brick Breeden Fieldhouse for the first time in 20 years when Oregon State visits on November 26, highlighting a challenging slate assembled by first-year head coach Brad Huse.
"This is a very competitive schedule," Huse said. "I'm excited about the caliber of teams we are attracting to the Fieldhouse."
After opening with three of four contests on the road, punctuated by a November 13 home contest against Big West foe UC Santa Barbara, the Bobcats host Mark Durham's UM-Western squad on November 22 and Oregon State of the Pac 10 Conference on November 26. The last Pac 10 squad to visit the Fieldhouse was Washington, a 98-90 overtime victor over the Bobcats on March 11, 1987, in an NIT game. The 'Cats host Fresno State of the Western Athletic Conference on December 9.
Bobcat non-conference road games include trips to former Big Sky rivals Idaho (Nov. 19) and Boise State (Dec. 6) and a contest at Fresno State. MSU also resumes regional rivalries with Utah Valley State (Nov. 10 and Dec. 16), Portland (Nov. 17), and Wyoming (Dec. 2 in Billings).
With the addition of Northern Colorado to the Big Sky, MSU's league slate grows to 16 games this season. Bobcat fans will have to wait a while longer than most for a look at the new-look conference, as MSU's opens Big Sky play with four straight road games. That begins with a trip to Eastern Washington (Dec. 28) and Portland State (Dec. 30), games that forced the cancellation of MSU's Holiday Stores Classic tournament. "We're disappointed to have to do that," Huse said of the event's discontinuation. "We're committed to rescheduling it next year if we're able."
Montana State's Big Sky home schedule is highlighted by contests Weber State on January 18 and Idaho State on January 20, a weekend marked by the celebration of the Fieldhouse's 50th Anniversary. The Bobcats host rival Montana on February 10.
