5/13: NCAA Men’s Team Tennis Championship First Round – at Pepperdine University; Malibu, Calif.; 10:00 AM

Montana State men (15-11) will play Pepperdine (30-2) on Saturday, May 13 at 10 a.m. (MST) at the Ralph-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, California in the first round of the NCAA Team Championships.
Last year, the Bobcats faced Texas A&M in the opening-round. In 2004, MSU traveled to No. 4 Southern Cal for its first-round match.
MSU will be paced by its four seniors (Federico Ueltschi, Marek Gebicki, Tejeshwara Chigateri and Jake Berriochoa), all of which are competing in their third straight NCAA championship. The foursome has combined for over 75 singles victories this spring.
May 24-29, senior Big Sky MVP Federico Ueltschi will become the first MSU singles player to compete in the NCAA Singles Championships. The competition will be held at the Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif., following the conclusion of the team championship May 20-23.
Montana State’s Mike Phillips has been selected the Big Sky Conference Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year. The award is determined by a vote of Phillips’ coaching peers in the conference. Phillips guided MSU to the Big Sky regular-season title, and then watched his Bobcats beat Montana 4-0 for the Big Sky Championship.

5/10-13: Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championship at Cheney, Wash.
Thrower Josh Henigman continued to round into form Friday at the Tom Gage Classic in Missoula. Henigman won two events, including a regional qualifying 170-7 in the discus, to pace MSU at the non-scoring meet. He also won the hammer throw. The meet was the final tune-up for the conference championships to be held this week on the Eastern Washington campus in Cheney. MSU swept the women's throwing events, with Kelli Phillip (javelin), Megan Lee (shot), Karen Helvey (discus), and Ashley Jones (hammer) all capturing first place.
The Big Sky Conference Championship begins on Wednesday with the decathlon and heptathlon. The full meet begins Friday.
