Bobcats Land 19th in First Preseason Poll

College football's first preseason poll is out, and Montana State fared fairly well.
Facing a season without all-time great Travis Lulay under center and All-America Jeff Bolton blocking for the first time in four years, the Bobcats landed at 19th in the Division I-AA preseason poll released by AnyGivenSaturday.com (AGS) on Monday. MSU joins Montana (4th) and Eastern Washington (21st) as Big Sky teams earning preseason rankings.
"I think you could pick any of seven or eight (Big Sky) teams that could be ranked," MSU coach Mike Kramer said Monday. "The ranking is a statement that we have earned the respect of the nation, but that we have work ahead of us to get where we want to be."
In addition to the two Big Sky foes, MSU faces a third nationally-ranked I-AA foe this year in UC Davis. Montana State hosts the Aggies on September 16, and also plays non-league games at Colorado and against Chadron State at home. Big Sky members Idaho State, Portland State, and Weber State also received votes.
