Bolton Lands with Seahawks

Jeff Bolton got a first-hand look at the strange twists a career in professional football can take this week.
Early in the week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released Bolton, originally from Florida, less than a month after signing him as an undrafted free agent. On Wednesday, the Seahawks flew Bolton to Seattle for a workout, then signed him to a contract for the 2006 season.
"I went out there on Wednesday and it just happened," Bolton said. "It's exciting."
Also exciting, Bolton said, is the opportunity to team professionally with former Bobcat quarterback Travis Lulay. The senior quarterback signed with Seattle minutes after the 2006 NFL Draft ended.
"It's a good situation for both of them," said Bobcat coach Mike Kramer. "They will both receive a good opportunity in that system. Jeff and Travis are both smart players who should learn the system in good order."
Lulay and Bolton are both coming off of outstanding senior seasons. Lulay earned First Team Academic All-America honors, while Bolton was the Rimington Award winner as the top center in Division I-AA.
In other Bobcat football news, Kramer indicated that tight end Nick Parker opted to leave the program. Parker, from Missoula Loyola, played as a redshirt freshman last fall.
