Bobcat Women’s Basketball Program Concludes Recruiting Season

“Mara will give us added size and depth at the post position, which was an area we lacked in last season,” Binford said. “She’s a physical presence under the boards and will really give us a boost in the rebounding area.”
Hoefer, a native of Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, averaged 6.4 points and a team-best 6.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 50 percent from the field, last season. She also led her team in blocked shots and recorded a season-high 14 points against North Arkansas College. Hoefer also tallied 12 rebounds on two occasions and had her best shooting performance (6-6) against Iowa Central.
“We were attracted by Mara’s ability to play down low, where she does a great job sealing off and pulling down rebounds,” Binford said. “Offensively, she didn’t get a lot of looks, but when she did, converted at a good percentage. Mara is a good fit for us and she’ll match up well with the rest of the posts in the Big Sky Conference.”
Hoefer, who prepped at Gymnasium Herlzenrath, also chipped in 36 assists and 21 steals, while playing in 31 games, last winter.
“As a staff, we’re very happy with this recruiting class,” Binford said. “We addressed a lot of different areas. We have good depth and that will make practice challenging, as well as give us the ability to push the pace on the floor.”
