Montana State Netters Go for Three

The Bobcats will look to capture their third consecutive Big Sky Conference title against Montana on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Reed Gym Courts. The intra-state rivals split their season series, each winning on its home court.
“The guys looked very confident and were determined,” said MSU men’s coach Mike Phillips. “I’m proud with how they competed and we feel good going into the finals.”
Montana State (14-11) opened by winning all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 advantage. The Bobcats received victories at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles to advance to Saturday’s title tilt. Senior Tejeshwara Chigateri secured the win at No. 4 singles with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Idaho State’s Masimba Ruwo.
“We’re looking forward to playing Montana,” Phillips said. “They got us last weekend, so it should be interesting to see what happens on a neutral court.”
Montana’s appearance in the Big Sky championship match is its first since 1971.
