Lowe Among Bobcat Captains

Senior linebacker Clive Lowe was one of four Bobcats named team captains on Wednesday, and Jim Verlanic and Elliott Barnhart each earned a pair of honors at halftime of MSU's Sonny Holland Spring Classic.
Lowe, a senior from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., joined safety Ryan Force (Lake Oswego, Ore.), guard Brant Birkeland (Helena) and tackle Joe Hirst (Spokane, Wash.) as 2006 team captains.
Verlanic (center, Anaconda) earned the Hayden Ferguson Academic Award and the D'Agostino Strength Award for Big Heavies. Barnhart earned the D'Agostino Strength Award for Hunters/Killers and the Tom Parac Most Improved Offensive Player honor. Dylan Kinkelaar (soph., DT, Winifred) earned the Jon Montoya Most Improved Defensive Player award, freshman safety Arnold Briggs (San Diego) was named the Cliff Hysell Courage award winner, and Epikopo King (jr., LB, The Dalles, Ore.) earned the Chuck Karnop Toughness Award.
