Rudy, Cats Shine in Oregon

Ellie Rudy tied a Big Sky Conference and Montana State record in the pole vault and Kylee Zent finished first in one event and third in another to lead MSU at the Oregon Invitational on Saturday.
Rudy, a sophomore, vaulted 13-5.75, matching the best marks in MSU and Big Sky history. MSU's Shannon Agee previously held both marks. "Ellie really had a great meet," MSU coach Dale Kennedy said. "She vaulted really well. In general, our jumpers and throwers really performed well."
Zent, a freshman, earned Montana State's only event win with a 48-6 mark in the shot put, a personal best, and also hit a PR in finishing third in the discus. MSU finished 1-2-4-6 in the shot put. Erin Jones-Graf finished third in two events and fourth in another.
"I thought we made more good improvement," Kennedy said. "Overall it was a good meet, and we need to come back and be ready to go next weekend for the Cat-Griz dual. That's a very important weekend and a very team-oriented weekend."
