Men’s Tennis Team Wraps Regular Season at UM

The Bobcats have a 19-match conference win streak on the line. MSU’s last league loss came on Feb. 23, 2003 against Northern Arizona. In addition, Montana State is vying for its third straight Big Sky title.
Montana State has already wrapped up the No. 1 seed at next weekend’s Big Sky Conference championships in Pocatello, Idaho.
“What this group of seniors has accomplished is absolutely phenomenal,” said MSU head coach Mike Phillips. “Their conference record speaks for itself. What also is amazing is that they have accomplished even more in the classroom.”
The Bobcats will be led by Federico Ueltschi, the two-time reigning Big Sky Conference most valuable player. Ueltschi has already posted his fourth straight 20-win season and is 25-9 on the season.
Also looking to hit the 20-win plateau in the next two weeks are seniors Tejeshwara Chigateri (19-16) and Marek Gebicki (16-12).
Montana has also secured a spot in the Big Sky Tournament. The Grizzlies dropped a 5-2 decision to the Bobcats earlier this season in the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center.
“Montana has a very good team, probably the best they’ve had in a long time,” Phillips said. “Our guys are looking forward to the challenge of a good rivalry.”
The Big Sky tournament will be April 27-29 at Idaho State University.
