Men’s Basketball
Men’s basketball head coach Brad Huse rounded out his coaching staff with two assistant coach hires: Shawn Dirden and Ryan Orton.
Dirden is a former University of Idaho player who also played professionally in Europe. Most recently he was an assistant coach at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. Orton, a former assistant to Ray Giacoletti at Eastern Washington University is currently an assistant at Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho. Orton played college basketball at Eastern Oregon University in LaGrande.
Football

Wednesday 4/26: Sonny Holland Classic scrimmage - 4:00 PM at Bobcat Field
Due to weather considerations, the final Sonny Holland Classic Scrimmage is being moved to Wed., April 26 at 4:00 at Bobcat Field. Weather issues have hampered the Bobcat spring season this year also forcing the Bobcats to move early practices off-site to Bozeman High School.

Current Records: Men: 13-10, 5-0 ; Women: 9-13, 2-4
The Montana State men’s tennis team remained undefeated in Big Sky Conference action sweeping Idaho State 7-0, Saturday afternoon. Montana State won all three doubles matches to capture the first point, and swept all six singles matches to cruise to the win. MSU dropped its only set of the afternoon as Justin Hauck posted a 6-2, 5-7 (11-9) win at No. 6 singles.
The Bobcat women’s squad finally came out on the good end of a 4-3 decision to post its second league victory of the year. MSU had previously dropped 4-3 decisions to Northern Arizona, Montana and Weber State. MSU opened the match winning at No. 1 and 3 doubles to earn the first point. The Bobcats received victories at No. 1, 2 and 6 singles to secure the win.

Last Week:
The windy weather at the MSU Invitational on Saturday didn’t deter Bobcat athletes from posting stellar performances. Steve Heberly set a school record in the 100 meters and Josh Henigman won two events in his first outdoor meet after a bout with mono.
Heberly, a junior from Havre who has broken the MSU 200 meters record twice this spring, won the 100 in a school-best mark of 10.67 in 1.7 meter wind. The mark nipped Chuck Ladd's school 21-year old school record by .01. Heberly also won the 200.
A senior from Bridger making his first outdoor appearance this spring, Henigman won the discus and hammer throw. Henigman's hammer throw mark of 196-1 qualifies him for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships.
Women’s Golf
This Week:
The MSU women’s golf team is competing in the Big Sky Championship this week at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona. NAU sophomore Sophia Choi is the defending women’s champion.

Low 54-hole championship total: 216 by Lauren Gray, Northern Arizona in 2004 at Palm Valley
Low 18-hole score: 68 by Sacramento State’s Sarah Kuykendall in the third round of the 2005 tournament, and by Portland State’s Taya Battistella in the first round of the 2003 championship at Palm Valley.
The winner: The team champion will represent the Big Sky Conference at an NCAA Regional on May 11-13. The West Regional site is the Washington National Golf Club in Auburn, Wash.
