Montana State’s Bertoncelj Earns All-America Honors; Bobcats 14th

The native of Slovenia recorded a two-run time of 2:20.41. Abbi Lathrop of Colby College won the individual title in a clocking of 2:16.85.
“Spela started the race ranked 13th overall,” said MSU ski coach Dan Brelsford. “She knocked off four skiers after the first run, and then put the hammer down in the steep, difficult section during the second run to knock off three more. She was really on her game.”
Montana State’s lone men’s qualifier Cory Harris finished 30th overall, after a mishap in the first run.
“Cory’s ski popped out in the first run, which is disappointing because he was skiing so well,” Brelsford said. “He was able to regroup and finish the run to get us some points.”
Harris had a two-run total of 2:48.65. Scott Veenis of Utah won the individual crown in a time of 2:12.19.
As a team, the Bobcats sit in 14th place overall with 44 points. New Hampshire captured the first day lead with 161 points.
