Bobcat Tennis Teams Clip Eagles

The MSU men’s team posted a 6-1 victory over the Eagles.
The Bobcats swept all three doubles matches to earn the first point, then scored victories at Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 singles, all in straight sets, to remain undefeated in Big Sky Conference action.
“Eastern Washington is a much improved team and really gave us a challenge,” said MSU men’s head coach Mike Phillips. “We got down early in doubles play, but the guys did a great job battling back to earn the point. We did a nice job of carrying that momentum over into singles play.”
The Montana State women’s team also defeated EWU 6-1.
MSU swept the doubles match and claimed all but No. 4 singles to even their Big Sky slate at 1-1 on the season.
“Eastern Washington was an unknown entering today,” said MSU women’s coach Denise Albrecht. “They have really improved the make-up of their program and our kids did an outstanding job, especially in singles play.”
Senior Vera Vasileva had an outstanding match for the Bobcats, downing Jennifer Jolley at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0, and then combined with Katy Clarke at No. 2 doubles to defeat EWU’s Marie Carroll and Iliana Petrova 8-3.
