This Week in Bobcat Athletics
3/27/2006 12:00:00 AM | General
The Bobcat cheer, dance, and mascot teams scored a national-level tri-fecta recently placing first in their respective divisions at the Cheerleaders of America West Coast Open National Dance and Cheer Competition in California.
MSU mascot Champ competed for points and performed two different routines, placing first. MSU was successful in partner stunting as well, placing first out of four couples. The competition included over 400 cheerleaders from around the country. MSU head spirit squad coach Dani Ruoff and dance coach Kendra Robinson accompanied the squads to the competition.
The opening of spring football practice has been delayed because of weather.
"The field is just too wet, and we're fighting the precipitation from above and ground moisture from below. We're on hold. At this point, it's indefinite,” head coach Mike Kramer said Monday.
For now, Kramer is holding fast to his pledge not to practice in MSU's Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, when it is available, or to move spring drills off campus. "Moving it inside is not realistic," said MSU's seventh-year head coach. "The width of the Arena takes about one-third of our passing game away from us, and there are some serious safety concerns.
IMPORTANT SPRING FOOTBALL DATES:

Fri, 4/14 Scrimmage, 1 pm

College (1996-2004), and has served as an assistant at Montana the past two seasons.
Northeastern (Okla.) State University head coach Larry Gipson meets with the public Wednesday at 3 pm in the Stadium Club. Gipson, 176-86 in nine years at NSU, led that school to the 2003 NCAA Division II National Championship, and previously led Northeastern (Okla.) A&M to a national junior college title.
