Bobcat Women Prepare for Lady Griz

Following its game with the Lady Griz, the Bobcats will travel to Northern Arizona and Sacramento State, Feb. 16.
On The Air:
All Bobcat games can be heard on 103.5 KZMY-FM. Veteran sportscaster Mark Martello is sidelined for Friday. Kris Atteberry will call both the men’s and women’s basketball games from Missoula, 20-minutes prior to tip-off.
On The Tele:
Friday night’s game will be carried on the MTN network througout the state. The game can be seen locally on KBZK 7/26 or on cable channel 4. KPAX Sports Director Jeremy Jorgensen will handle play-by-play, while Will Southwood, Sports Director at KXLF-Butte, will add color commentary.

As of Feb. 6 the Bobcats have played the second toughest schedule in the Big Sky Conference. MSU’s schedule is ranked 189, while Weber State is first at 176. All other Big Sky schools are ranked in the 200s.
Injury Report:
True freshman Nubia Garcia, who was sidelined for four weeks after having her knee scoped, returned to the Bobcats line-up against Idaho State. She returned to MSU’s starting five against Weber State on Saturday.
That Was The Week That Was:
The Bobcats opened their weekend with its biggest offensive output of the season in Big Sky Conference action. Despite losing 84-74 to Idaho State, MSU out-scored the Bengals 48-44 in the second half, hitting at a 42 percent clip from the field and 86 percent from the free throw line. Montana State had three players reach double-figures, led by Alyssa Nelson with 15 points, while Scotta Morton and Jenny Heringer chipped in 13 points apiece. Heringer, a native of Billings, also notched five assists, five rebounds and two steals. The Bobcats were out-rebounded 46-43 and were led under the boards by Amanda DeHaan with nine rebounds. Weber State built an early on Saturday and never looked back, en route to a 74-48 win over the Bobcats. After shooting 44 percent from the field, MSU went cold in the second stanza, connecting for 28 percent from the floor. Scotta Morton was the only Bobcat to reach double-digits with 11 points. Whitney Connolly chipped in eight points and a team-high six boards.

Prior to notching just 48 points against Weber State, the Bobcats had averaged 73.5 points in its last two games.

After dropping two consecutive Big Sky Conference games to Eastern Washington and Weber State, Montana (15-5, 4-3) bursted out of a mini shooting slump with a 105-55 victory over Idaho State on Saturday. The Lady Griz shot 53 percent from the field against the Bengals, including a red-hot 67 percent (16-24) from three-point range. Five UM players scored in double-figures led by Mandy Morales and Johanna Closson with 24 and 21 points, respectively. In its 50-49 loss to Weber State, Montana was paced by Morales with 16 points. The Lady Griz shot 29 percent from the field and 18 percent from long distance. On the season, Morales leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.9 points per game, while Katie Edwards and Dana Conway chip in 13.8 and 10.1 points, respectively.
